No Drugs Down the Drain: Safely Dispose of Medications
Unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications that are washed down the drain or flushed down the toilet can pollute the environment. To help keep our coastal waters clean, take no-longer-needed medications to a local drop-off center for proper disposal.
If a drop-off center isn’t available, you can safely dispose of medications in the trash by crushing them, mixing them with coffee grounds, kitty litter, or dirt, sealing the mixture in a secure bag or container, and placing it in the trash.
