Biosolids Program
Every day, OC San produces approximately 540 tons of biosolids, totaling about 200,000 tons annually. Recovered from the wastewater treatment process, these biosolids are highly treated, nutrient-rich organic matter that serve as a high-quality bulk soil amendment for farms and compost facilities. OC San’s biosolids meet stringent local, state, and federal regulations, and their beneficial use has wide-ranging positive impacts, including improving crop yields and mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration.
